Overview
Heaven on earth
The steep and narrow rocky ledge near Portofino harbor is one of the jewels in Europe's crown and is among the most exclusive residential areas throughout Italy - this is where the most expensive square meter prices from all of Italy, perhaps from all of Europe, are concentrated.
The promontory of Portofino is a protected natural area, with a mild climate and dramatic scenery of high cliffs plunging into the sea. The area is a happy mix of glamour and natural beauty set against a backdrop of sparkling turquoise sea.
Villa Portofino has a sporty casual interior. Don't expect luxury, luxury is it's exclusive location: Villa Portofino is one of the few villas located right on this green promontory and is the only private villa with sea access. You share this gigantic rock, towering up from the water, with only a few other exclusive villas, the Castello Brown (near which the film 'Enchanted April' was filmed), a lighthouse and the famous church above Portofino.
A short walk brings you to the famous central piazza of Portofino (20 minutes on foot or 10 minutes using an elevator), where chic designer boutiques and exquisite fish restaurants decorate the picturesque bay, vips stroll along the harbor promenade and elegant yachts anchor in the harbor.
Despite the proximity of the colorful and lively harbor of Portofino, the villa is tucked away and offers complete privacy, protected from the crowds. A private elevator connects the harbor with a walking path that leads to the lighthouse. Villa Portofino is located along this path, about 300 meters from the elevator. The villa cannot even be seen from the road or footpath, where all you can find is the entrance gate to the property. A stairway down (39 steps) leads through a beautiful rock garden to the terrace, shaded by century-old wisteria vines.
Villa Portofino is laid out on two levels and has a large sun terrace with sea views. The large windows of the house let in a lot of light and offer a beautiful view. With 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, the villa can accommodate 11 guests (the weekly price is based on an occupancy of 10 people). The housemaid who has a bedroom with bathroom on the lower level, will prepare breakfast and perhaps one meal a day for groups smaller than 5 (groceries are not included).
The house is about 20 m above sea level, the water is in walking distance: a private flight of 112 steep stone and wood steps leads down to a rocky platform - just the place for sliding into the water to cool off after a sunbathe.
Please note: The villa is only accessible on foot, so this accommodation is not suitable for people with walking difficulties (112 steps from the house to the sea, 39 steps from the entrance gate to the house, 23 steps from the house to the sun terrace). It is possible and desirable to stay here without a car. Do not bring a car wirh you, there is no parking at or near the house; if you do have a car, limited parking is available in an expensive underground garage in town. There is a small grocery store in Portofino; the Santa Margherita grocery store can deliver goods to the villa. The villa is not available in the cold season. It is only possible to heat the bedrooms up a bit, but we cannot see this as real heating.

The villa is a true gem of a vacation home - walking distance to the beautiful village of Portofino, with several terraces each with an unbelievable view of water, sailboats and mountains beyond, the house is modern and comfortable. It has all you need for a relaxing stay, without clutter or unnecessary items. Swimming in the beautiful Mediterranean is off a private platform down some steps. Be aware that access is only via pedestrian pathway from the village, but it is not far and the path also provides stunning views. Marta thoughtfully provided porters for our luggage (extra cost) and a housekeeper who kept the villa spotless and helped with cooking and shopping on request. We could not have felt better cared for and hope to go back soon.

We had a wonderful week. The location was perfect, privately hidden away in the trees on the peninsula of Portofino. The villa is peacefully relaxed with everything that you need and has private access to the sea which is perfect. Tastefully decorated with beautiful art work and iconic furniture pieces. The house keeper, Karina was kind, helpful and discreet. We truly loved it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend and/or return. Thank you so much X

Absolutely Magical - A Hidden Gem in Portofino
This extraordinary home is pure magic! The views of Portofino's sparkling turquoise waters and colorful houses are absolutely breathtaking - every window frames a postcard-perfect scene that changes beautifully throughout the day.
What truly sets this property apart is the incredible artistic vision in every detail. The owner has created a sophisticated gallery meets intimate home, with original artwork, thoughtful sculptures, and carefully curated furnishings that perfectly complement both the stunning architecture and natural beauty.
The blend of modern comfort with authentic Italian charm is flawless. We spent hours on the terrace with morning espresso, feeling like we were living in a dream. Every artistic touch - from wood spoons to vintage furniture - shows a true creative soul at work.

Private, beautiful place to stay, amazing views and private access to the sea. Elena was a perfect host who prepared delicious food for us. Can’t speak higher of this place.

Amazing location and property with unprecedented private ocean access, which is rare in the area. For those with young children there is also a small rocky beach just a 5 min walk from the property.
The 15 minute walk from Portofino harbor (and 10-15 min further from the road) is not for everyone but it added to the exclusivity of the property and the private elevator helped a lot. We had a range in ages 4 to 83 and we did great. Just make sure to plan grocery shopping or use the delivery services suggested by host.
Marta was a great host, and very helpful and responsive when needed. All in all we had an amazing stay and can definitely recommend this property.

I'd like to express my sincere gratitude for a wonderful vacation in Portofino! We spent an unforgettable time in this wonderful house. The cozy atmosphere, the well-kept and beautiful grounds, and the private waterfront make this place truly unique. Here you can enjoy the peace, incredible views, and complete harmony.
Special thanks to Elena for her care, responsiveness, and assistance with all matters. Thanks to her attentive attitude, our vacation was as comfortable and carefree as possible.
This is a place you'll truly want to return to. We highly recommend it to anyone dreaming of a vacation in one of the most beautiful corners of Italy!

This house suited us perfectly. We enjoy walking, so the distance from the town was no issue for us, nor were the 120 steps to the sea - we exercised off all the meals out! Marta was a very responsive host and we would definitely book through her again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Dear Bettina and a magic Villa Portofino team,
thanks a lot for your wishes!
We wish your a soft landing in a New Year and hope to be your guests one day again!!!
Our hearts are still belonging to this place)))
Warmest regards from Switzerland,
Tatiana and Konstantin
The Villa sits on a hillside and is very peaceful with beautiful views of the Ligurian Sea. The pictures depict the rooms accurately. Elena, the housekeeper, was very accommodating and made us the most wonderful crepes as dessert after dinner. She is Ukranian and speaks very little English so we used the Google translate app to communicate.
The only caution to give is the Villa is not for people who have trouble walking or have mobility issues. It is a substantial walk from the pharmacy drop-off point to the Villa with cobblestone pathways, narrow pedestrian paths, steps and inclines. Comfortable walking shoes are a must!
Janice
A lovely house in a cool and exclusive-feeling location. Loved the direct sea access, the view, the greenery, the airy and attractive house, and the proximity to the stylish harbour and seafront restaurants of Portofino. There is a live-in housekeeper. It’s a hilly area, which can be hot and bothersome in August, but there is use of a private lift down to the town.
Tessa
Amazing property! Second to none! A dream house in a dream location. Well curated art and furnishing in the house, well stocked kitchen and bathrooms. It’s a unique, one of a kind experience for anyone lucky enough to stay here. Marta and Karina are very kind, sweet, helpful, considerate and responsive hosts. We could not have wished for anything more. Our experience there will be remembered by my family throughout our lives. Thank you Marta and Karina!

Floor Plan Activities
The Italian Riviera is a picturesque strip of white sandy beaches, colorful fishing villages, and green hillsides that stretches from France to Tuscany. The promontory of Portofino is a protected natural area, with a mild climate and dramatic scenery of high cliffs plunging into the sea.
As always with Portofino, it is best to arrive with a large yacht. If this is not possible, take the train. Trains on the main rail line from Torino to Rome stop in nearby Rapallo, connected by bus to Portofino. A local train runs from Santa Margherita to the Cinque Terre, with bus service from Portofino to Santa Margherita every 20 minutes (Portofino - S. Margherita 10 minutes).
Public transport is also possible by boat (ferry from Portofino to S. Margherita/Rapallo/5 Terre/Camogli/S. Fruttuoso) or water taxi. Pick up service at Genova Airport can be arranged (reservation is required at least 14 days before arrival).
Explore the resorts of the Riviera: Santa Margherita (4 km) and lively Rapallo, with excellent shopping.
Continue on to the Cinque Terre, five cliffside villages with hundreds of miles of hiking trails.
Visit the superb museums and delightful markets of Genoa (30 minutes), where narrow alleys wind their way down to one of the most vital harbors of the Mediterranean.
Visit the popular resort of Forte dei Marmi or the Cararra marble quarries where Michelangelo got his pure white marble.
