Overview
Heavy scent of orange blossom and sparkling fireworks ...
This spacious property is located in one of Sicily's most coveted regions: it sits ot the east coast, at the foot of the magestic Etna Mountain, Europe's tallest active volcano, just 3 km from the sea and 17 km from Taormina, Sicily's most famous tourist resort. Borgo Aranci is a well-kept group of farmhouses set amongst a fragrant organic orange grove. The houses date back to the 18th century and have been beautifully restored and lovingly furnished. The property boasts far reaching views onto countless orange trees with the blue sea beyond, the mighty Etna, occasionally providing a sparkling fireworks show, and the Taormina hills to the north.
An electronic entrance gate leads to the 3 ha property. As you make your way down the long drive you will see orange trees as far as the eye can see until you reach the houses with it´s simple facades, sun-bleached walls and dark green shutters. On arrival your focus will turn to the immaculate lawns and the inviting pool. Although there are three buildings, making it excellent for large parties, we only rent it for exclusive use, so you will never share pool or grounds with other guests. The property sleeps a total of up to 16 people. There are 10 bedrooms (8 doubles/twins and 2 single bedrooms) and 6 bathrooms.
Fine materials, typical for the region, have been used for the restauration: the floors were laid with hand-made, square terracotta tiles in warm colors. Polished, silvery-gray lava stone has been used for the terrace. The kitchen cupboards are made of white, enameled, fired slabs of lava. Hand-painted tiles decorate the white ceramic panels on the bathroom and kitchen walls. The terraces have shadow roofs, are equipped with beautiful garden furniture, and there is a stone barbecue.
The property is reached by a long track running through the organic orange groves and boasts fabulous views in all directions. The pool is 2 m deep. It offers a magnificent view of the grove and the sea. There are plenty of shaded areas for al fresco dining and relaxing whilst enjoying the views of the surrounding countryside and the sea. Guests are welcome to make use of herbs, fruit and vegetables from the estate's organic kitchen garden. The grove is full of many different fruit trees from peaches and cherries to pears, apricots and figs. Enjoy your breakfast orange juice fresh from the tree - from October to April.
Daily maid service and cook available on request. The discreet and helpful owners usually occupy a fourth property on the estate but the use of the gardens and swimming pool remain exclusive to guests. A motorway running several hundred metres behind the house does not impair the fabulous view, but may be audible if the wind is blowing out to sea. In our opinion, and in those of clients that have stayed here, it does not disturb. The oranges in the grove are harvested, those from the trees near the house are left hanging. The orange harvest takes place between mid April and mid May, and during this time, the nearby country road witnesses a rise in traffic, namely the vehicles transporting the oranges.

We spent a long and lovely week at Borgo degli Aranci. It was a wonderful stay. The accommodation was excellent-spacious and tidy-and Guendalina and Pino the perfect hosts, The villa is surrounded by a romantic orange grove with a spectacular view of the sea and the Etna volcano. It is beautifully located the sea-Taormina Castelmola or the volcano can be reached in a short car trip.
Thank you Guendalina and Pino, we will be back soon.

Borgo degli Aranci is a superb location, in between the sea and Mount Etna, and Taormina is just 15 minutes drive. The villas are furnished to high standard, very clean and quiet. The host, Guenda and Guido, have been very helpful in order to get the best possible time in the area (infos, excursion, generally very warm). Great welcome drinks/snaks on terrace with the sea on your left and Etna on your right…. Views of both sea and mountains are just superb. The property is the perfect placed to find yourself (in case you got lost..) in full harmony and peace. The pool its for kids and friends, and the sea is just a 5 minutes drive, very very nice, quiet and clean , in particular Lido Mare Kambo.. super cool, with an excellent restaurant and host, Daniela.
Finally, an holiday to remember and to re-do as soon as possible!

Our visit was wonderful!
Thank you so much for helping making our trip so easy and enjoyable. We rented Borgo Aranci and it couldn't have been a more splendid place. The houses are spacious and well organized, the swimming pool and the well-kept garden are perfect to enjoy the warm and sunny weather of Sicily. Very nice property and very nice owners! We had a great time! Location is perfect near Taormina, Messina, Catania and Syracuse. I would highly recommend this place for friends or a families.

Our family of 13 had an amazing one week stay at Villa Borgo degli Aranci to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.
Not only was our hostess Guendalina warm and welcoming but she, helped us get the best of Sicily in the short time we had. Not only did she stock the houses with breakfast provisions but arranged a welcoming meal for us offering to pick up wines for us at a winery which we later visited for a very enjoyable tasting complete with more tastes of Sicily. She inquired about the foods we wanted to try and hence a great meal with Arancini, meats and a pasta with eggplant from the organic garden on the property as well as the wonderful gelato that made the children very happy!
We were encouraged to use the organic herbs, vegetables and oranges on the property and the children with great enthusiasm, picked and made orange juice every day. We were all delighted with the beautiful pool that overlooked the sea and Mt Etna during this very hot week.
The houses were fully equipped and just as pictured. Guenda also helped us navigate the area arranging a perfect beach day and restaurent meal. The Villa is in a perfect location as it is close to Catania, Taorimina, where we all enjoyed a cooking class and Mt Etna, where we toured in a jeep with guide... We wished for more time at this very comfortable and beautifully restored farmhouse with views of the sea and Mountains as well as the excellent hospitality of Guenda and her family.
Thank you again Guenda and family for an unforgettable holiday.

Dear Hidden Italy Team,
Just a short mail to give you some feedback about our stay in Sicily last month. We enjoyed the place very much and the owners were charming indeed. The area is interesting, the facilities are more than ok.
Thanks and regards,

Hi Ute and Bettina,
The welcome at the villa was very good and comprehensive. The cooks that were arranged for us were excellent (the Parmigiana di melanzane was delicious!!). The villa catered for all our needs the only problem we had was the hotwater seemed to trip the switch every now and again. Overall we all had a great holiday in Sicily and thanks for your assistance in making this possible for us.

Dear Bettina,
First of all we want to thank you for your help in making the arrangements for our stay at Borgo Aranci. The location with the view of Mt Etna was amazing. We found the house comfortable and Salvatore (caretaker) very helpful. You may want to pass on to the owners of the property that the instructions for the clothes washer were not there and we had a difficult time interpreting the dials. On the whole we certainly enjoyed being there and would not hesitate to recommend it to our friends.

Activities
Your daily shopping can be done in Fiumefreddo (1.5 km). Fiumefreddo also has a bar, a pizzeria and a cinema (open-air cinema during the summer months).
Situated near the town of Fiumefreddo about half way between Catania and Taormina, Borgo Aranci is a good base from which to visit Taormina, Catania, Mount Etna and the various fascinating villages on its flanks.
Taormina, the pearl of Sicily, is 14 miles (20 minute drive) away. This hilltop town is one of the most magical on the island and features magnificent views of the sea and Mount Etna. Views are dramatic and spectacular. You can enjoy enjoy this panorama and a lively ambiance in the Piazza IX Aprile. Taormina is wonderful blend of Greek, Roman, Arab and Baroque architecture. The town’s most famous site monument is its Greek theatre, dating back to the 3rd century BC and with a capacity of 5,000 spectators. The ancient amphitheater puts on plays every night during the summer months. For some shopping head to Corso Umberto and for some peace and quiet stroll around the bucolic Villa Comunale public garden. Picturesque alleys and half-flights of steps are lined with elegant boutiques and restaurants. With ancient monuments, flowered courtyards, tiny alleys, cafés, restaurants, shops, and tourists from all over the world, it's easy to see why Taormina is considered one of Sicily's most beautiful towns.
Acireale, 30 km distant, this is an elegant baroque coastal town situated a few kilometers from Catania. It is home to a number of beautiful baroque churches as well as Sicily’s oldest art academy. For a taste of the area’s exquisite nature, spend some time in the Riserva Naturale Orientata La Timpa, with stunning cliff top views and a lovely rocky beach for those who can climb down to it.
Catania, 52 km distant, is Sicily’s second largest city. Marvellous Catania is filled with UNESCO listed heritage like the decadent Baroque Biscari Palace, the Monasteries of San Benedetto and San Nicolò l’Arena. Foodies should make a stop at its vibrant fish market and at one of the 19th century kiosks found around town selling sparkling water with anise.
Mount Etna National Park: Sicily’s legendary landmark and one of the most active volcanoes in the world, Mount Etna has been since an object of awe and veneration since Antiquity and has been the subject of countless myths and observations by Greeks, Celts and Romans. The 60,000 hectare park is home to an immense variety of flora and fauna and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. A visit to the park will be a top highlight of your Sicilian holiday.
There are also several charming fishing villages and some nice beaches nearby. The drive to the beach is easy and quick. The next spot for bathing is Marina di Cottone (3 km). The lava shingle beach is 7 km long and has crystal clear water. The beaches of Fiumefreddo and Marina di Cottone have received several consecutive "Bandiere Blu", attesting to the cleanliness of the water and their general ecological excellence. The beaches are either free of charge or equipped with comfortable lidos open from June to mid September. The Taormina beaches are particularly attractive.
Further afield, Syracuse, the baroque towns of the Noto valley, the quiet beaches of Vendicari and Capo Passero to the south and Messina to the north are all comfortably reachable for day trips. Excursions to Palermo and Cefalù, to the fabulous mosaics at the Piazza Armerina and the wonderful temple of Agrigento are only some of the many attractive destinations.
This spot is one of the wealthiest and probably best regions in Sicily. The earth is rich - there is no lack of water and the area profits from a unique micro-climate: the high mountain protects it from the cold north winds in winter - daytime temperatures rarely fall below 20°, even in the coolest months (December, January, February). Bathing is possible from April to October and sunbathing even at at Christmas. In the height of summer, the ice and snow-capped peaks provide a cool breeze on the long, hot evenings.
Sports: swimming, bike rental 1.5 km, windsurf 15 km, diving 15 km, sailing 15 km, water skiing 15 km, tennis court 15 km, golf course (18 wholes) 30 km.
