Overview
Characterful waterfront villa directy on the lake shore
Villa Rivoire is a stylish villa situated directly on the shores of Lake Como in Tremezzina, one of the most exclusive and picturesque locations on the central lake. We’re talking about the sunniest area of the central lake: that prosperous region with an outstanding concentration of olive groves, period villas with astounding architectures, ancient little hamlets and breathtaking natural sceneries. The villa is located in the peaceful Ossuccio hamlet, on the stretch of Lake Como in front of Isola Comacina, a naturally protected area where the water is generally calmer due to the surrounding geography – making the villa, with its direct lake access, particularly suitable for swimming. Let’s face it: being right in front of the only island we have on Lake Como is a privilege!
Located right on the water, the property offers private lake access, a private boat dock, panoramic terraces, and a beautifully landscaped garden with uninterrupted lake views. This villa comfortably accommodates up to 8 guests. Up to 12 guests can be accommodated upon request. Additional charges apply for groups larger than 8.
Villa Rivoire is a wonderful place to enjoy lakeside living, where the light on the water shapes the days and the evenings drift by to the gentle rhythm of the lake. Many rooms face the lake, allowing you to enjoy the soothing sound of the water. Revel in the feeling of floating on gentle waters and admire the ever-changing beauty of the landscape throughout the day. As the accommodation is located directly on the water, the soothing sound of the water can be heard from almost every room.
The house spans four floors and comfortably accommodates eight guests in six bedrooms. The main living level has a warm and inviting atmosphere, featuring a cozy living area with a fireplace and a dining table, perfect for long, leisurely meals. From here, you can access a covered terrace with lake views. The fully equipped kitchen is ideal for both relaxed breakfasts and festive dinners. The two upper floors are dedicated to sleeping and offer stylishly furnished bedrooms, some with stunning lake views. There are three bathrooms. All six bedrooms are air-conditioned. The interiors feature stylish details, charming shutters, and lake views from many rooms.
On the garden level, a games room with a pool table invites you to socialize. Outside, there is table tennis and table football. A shower room is perfect after a swim in the lake. The house is said to have once served as the village police station. The villa manager will be happy to show you where the old cellar was located!
Outside, the private lakeside garden is a true highlight. Well-maintained lawns and low stone walls line the shore, and sun loungers invite you to relax – the view across the Venus Gulf and the island of Comacina is simply breathtaking. Comfortable outdoor seating and a barbecue area create a natural atmosphere for relaxing afternoons and evenings, while the private jetty beckons for a refreshing swim.
Villa Rivoire is located on the western shore of Lake Como in Ossuccio, part of the popular village of Tremezzina. Thanks to this central location, the lake is easily explored: Lenno is only 2 km away. The ferry is in walking distance and there are connections to Bellagio and Varenna. Menaggio is 10 km north. Isola Comacina, the only island on Lake Como (visible from the property) is just in front of the villa. Iconic Villa del Balbianello is just minutes away by boat. This location is ideal for travelers seeking an exclusive lakefront stay on Lake Como with convenient access to the area’s top attractions.
What you should know: Due to the villa's waterfront location and its different levels, it is not suitable for young children (children should be supervised outdoors at all times). The villa is situated on the main road connecting Como with Menaggio and beyond. The main road runs behind the property, guaranteeing unobstructed lake views from the front of the villa and convenient access from above.
The villa spans four levels and follows the natural slope of the Lake Como shoreline – a typical architectural feature of historic lakeside properties in Tremezzina. The main guest entrance is located on a charming, paved walkway below street level, leading to the ground floor of the villa. This is the recommended and safest access for all guests. (The first floor is at street level and has a second exit. For safety and comfort, we ask our guests to use the main entrance on the ground floor, as the second exit leads directly to the street and is not intended for regular use.)
The ideal number of guests for this house is 8. However, upon request and at an additional cost, up to 12 people can be accommodated in 6 bedrooms.
Please note that there is no parking at the house - the nearest paid parking lot is approximately 150 meters away. Guests may stop temporarily in front of the property upon arrival to unload luggage. The villa is accessible via a short, approximately 30-meter descent on a paved path. A porter service can be arranged upon request (at an additional cost) and is recommended for guests' convenience.

Villa Rivoire is located on the western shore of Lake Como, right on the edge of the small village of Ossuccio, part of the popular hamlet of Tremezzina. Overlooking Comacina Island and the Venus Gulf, the villa offers breathtaking lake views and soft, inviting light. The name "Golfo di Venere" underscores the special beauty and romantic atmosphere of this stretch of Lake Como. It is considered one of the most tranquil bays on the lake. The bay is ideal for swimming, boat trips (including water taxis to the island), and provides a stunning backdrop for strolls along the Lenno promenade.
The house is situated on the lakeside road that connects Como (25 km) with Menaggio (10 km) and beyond. Along this stretch of shoreline, you'll find charming villages and inviting restaurants serving traditional Lombard cuisine. Tremezzina is known for its central location on the lake, making it easy to explore the surrounding area while retaining the village's authentic charm. A restaurant with a bar and other establishments are accessible from the main road (which has no sidewalk). Please note that there is no parking at the villa. The nearest parking lot (for a fee) is 150 meters away.
For those who enjoy the outdoors, the Lake Como Greenway passes through Ossuccio. It offers picturesque hiking trails that wind through lakeside villages, past historic churches, and through peaceful landscapes. Ideal for enjoying the area at a leisurely pace and discovering ever-changing views of the lake. The panoramic trail from Lenno leads to the UNESCO-listed Sacro Monte di Ossuccio, one of nine sacred pre-Alpine mountains. The path winds through the Zoca de l’Oli (“oil basin”), an area famous for its olive groves, thanks to its mild microclimate and centuries-old oil production tradition.
Just 2 km further along the shore lies Lenno, with its diverse shopping opportunities and regular ferry connections to Bellagio and Varenna. Very close by (accessible from Lenno on foot or by boat) is the famous Villa del Balbianello, one of Lake Como's most iconic landmarks, renowned for its romantic gardens and panoramic terraces. The nearby village of Lenno, overlooking the tranquil Gulf of Venus, offers a wide range of cafés and eateries.
Many small towns and villages surround Lake Como. They are quaint and beautiful and it’s worthwhile exploring them. If you spend the mornings on the west side and the afternoons on the east side of the lake, you will always stay in the sun.
Steamers, boats, car ferries and buses serve all the main towns on Lake Como. A ferry around the heart of Lake Como (between the key towns of Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio and Cadenabbia) is a must. The most popular of the stops remains Bellagio.
Bellagio - known as the pearl of the lake is a beautiful little town in a picture-perfect location on the promontory where Lake Como separates into two branches. The town is historic and charming, with a waterfront promenades, stately hotels and two gardens open to the public: Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melzi. Bellagio's tourist information offices are by the ferry jetty and in Piazza della Chiesa.
The fishing village of Varenna has picturesque narrow alleyways and streets below a castle and a lakeside walking path. Varenna is a peaceful resort, smaller than Bellagio and also very beautiful. You can admire views from the Castello di Vezio or simply relax by the lakeside.
In Tremezzo visit Villa Carlotta - a villa and botanical garden. The villa is today a museum, whose art collection includes works by Canova, Thorvaldsen, Migliara and Hayez in addition to pieces of furniture from the time of the various owners.
The walled town of Como is a lively and pleasant town with an appealing historical centre and a scenic location at the southern end of the east branch of Lake Como. The impressive cathedral (Duomo), like most in Italy, was built and added to over a period of centuries, so you can admire Gothic and Renaissance features including some fine tapestries and paintings. The town's earlier cathedral (built in the tenth century), San Fedele, is another fine sight, as are the tall nine-hundred-year-old gateway, Porta Vittoria, and the Romanesque church Sant'Abbondio. The town's art gallery (Pinacoteca) is also worth a visit. For a short trip out of town, take the funicular up to the top of the hill above Como, where you can enjoy spectacular views.
Lake Como and the region is a shopper’s paradise. Around Como there are many small shops and boutiques, and in the larger towns you will find a great range of boutiques, designer stores and department stores. Wherever you are you are never far from great shopping.
Como is an interesting place to shop because of its local flavor. There are very elegant stores in Como that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Some of the world’s greatest designers are found in Como. Perhaps the nicest discount silk store (Mantero VIII) is found on the outskirts of Como.
Como is only a few minutes' drive from the Swiss border and from Lake Lugano. Cross the border into Switzerland and visit Foxtown Factory Stores, a temple of luxury and elegance with 3 km of shop windows, where 160 stores. The world famous mall that has every imaginable brand name store (Armani, Gucci, Prada, Loro Piano, Yves St. Laurent, Ferragamo, Versace, Missoni, Bally, Bruno Magli, Dolce and Gabbana, Cerrutti……to literally name only a few) at discounted prices. The mall sells last year’s fashions at prices that seem a third of what can be found in Milan.
Then of course there is Milan. Milan is a short train-ride away for those in search of some city life. Milan has been crowned the fashion capital of the world thanks to designers such as Versace, Prada and Armani. Via Monte Napoleone and Via della Spiga with its designer showrooms and boutiques are two of the most elegant, if expensive, shopping streets in Europe. Milan also has sections of town dedicated to antiques, art and house supplies.
In Milan is to see Leonardo Da Vinci’s The Last Supper. In the heart of Milan is the rose-colored marble Gothic Duomo. Not far from the Duomo is the world’s most famous opera house - La Scala. Throughout the city are symbols of Milan’s illustrious past including the 16 Corinthian-style columns from early Roman settlements. These are placed just outside the 4th century Basilica di San Lorenzo. Also impressive is the Sforza Castle and Museum of Ancient Art. St. Ambrose’s Basilica and Museum is interesting as the Basilica was founded in the 4th century by the Bishop Ambrose who baptized St. Augustine here.
Lake Como boasts some of the very finest Italian cuisine, and is home to a number of world-class restaurants. Check out the back streets and old lakeside towns to find some of the less well known but excellent restaurants.
Lake Como boat hire is possibly the finest way to experience the Lake in its full splendour. One has not seen Lake Como if it hasn’t been experienced from the water. There are numerous touring companies that can take large or small groups for tours of the lake which can include a refreshing swim in the lake. A wonderful day is to take the morning to explore the lake by boat. Stop for a long lunch at the Locanda dell’ Isola Comacina and return to the Villa by late afternoon.
Outdoor Activities: motorboat for hire Menaggio 6 km, windsurf Menaggio, water skiing Lezzeno, bicycle for hire Menaggio, golf club Menaggio, riding stables Colico.
There are numerous hikes and walking trails in and around Lake Como. Around the lake, through the woodlands and up through the hills and mountains offer an enormous variety of hiking possibilities, from easy walks for families to the more difficult for skilled hikers.
For water sports lovers it is possible to spend entire days sailing or kayaking, windsurfing and motor boating, water skiing and canoeing, wakeboarding and kitesurfing. In Como there is even a hydroplane piloting school.
Lake Como can also be dicovered by bicycle. Scenic roads, and alternative routes to those followed by the main traffic and some real cycle paths offer the visitor an alternative way of visiting various parts of the lake. Bikes can be rented in Dongo and in Menaggio.
Lake Como has also several golf courses which can be easily reached by car.
